Childhood Trauma and Abuse

More than 45% of the human population experience some form of trauma in their young lives. This is quite an unfortunate situation, seeing that we’re essentially talking about close to half of the world population, going about their lives against the backdrop of childhood trauma.

Despite the resilience, none of us are made of stone. Childhood trauma could have a lasting effect on your experiences in life, and that’s why it’s important to dig into it, and understand how your past has contributed to the person you are today.

The problem here is that there are so many different things that could lead to childhood trauma, eventually taking a psychological toll on the child. Some children might grow up with PTSD as a result of the trauma they experienced, making them hypervigilant, which denies them the joy of enjoying childhood, and a normal upbringing.

Some of the challenges that come from childhood trauma include difficulty focusing, depression, anxiety, struggles in school, losing touch with reality, worrying, and detaching easily. Through therapy, it’s easier to find a realistic solution by understanding where you’re coming from.
